The 28th annual Kentucky Wood Expo will be held in Madisonville, Kentucky on September 17-18, 2010. The show will be located at the Hopkins County Fairgrounds in Madisonville. This site is in western Kentucky, close to Tennessee, Illinois, Missouri, Arkansas, Ohio, and Indiana.
The facility features plenty of outside level, sodded exhibit space. Indoor exhibits will be located in the newly built convention center with concrete floors and central air. Madisonville has a large concentration of sawmill and logging companies. Kentucky is known to be a major state for manufacturing pallets.

Hardwood Council Redesigns Website
The Hardwood Council’s recently redesigned website, is a comprehensive resource for design/build professionals concerning North American hardwoods (www.HardwoodCouncil.com). The new site, which is easier to navigate and more visually appealing, offers new features, more information and is a must-see for all involved in sustainable specification.
Its Sustainable Building Facts offers access to downloadable information on North American hardwoods. In the News allows access to a growing library of project case studies. Write and Request is a location where visitors can request hard copies of the new resources and information. Interactive Species Guide informs about the characteristics, grades, and strength and mechanical properties of major North American hardwoods. Continuing Education Units includes the Council’s educational resources registered with the American Institute of Architects.
The site continues to house How-to-Projects, Professional Specifying Tips, and informative broadcast presentations and podcasts.
HMA Elects Officers and Board
The Hardwood Manufacturers Association elected Pembroke “Pem” Jenkins of Turn Bull Lumber Co. as its new president at its national conference
in March. Other HMA officers include: first vice president Jack Shannon of J.T. Shannon Lumber Co., second vice president Skipper Beal of Beal Lumber Co., and executive vice president Linda Javonovich.
The new board consists of Eric Porter, Abenaki Timber Corporation; Harry Rogers, Big River Cypress & Hardwoods; Jack Little, Keiver-Willard Lumber Corp.; Rhonda Kendrick, Kendrick Forest Products; and Owen Strickler, Virginia-Carolina Forest Products.
In addition to its officers, the new executive committee includes Alan Kitchens, Kitchens Brother Mfg. Co., Nancy Arend, Weyerhaeuser Hardwoods; John Jones, Ward Timber, Ltd.; Bob Miller, Frank Miller Lumber Co,; and Terry Brennan, Baillie Lumber Co.
