Marden Industries Introduces Tree Pruner for Excavators
Marden Industries has introduced an attachment to prune limbs from standing timber for improved forest management.
When attached to a compatible excavator, the Marden pruner, similar to a delimber, can remove limbs up to about 4 inches in diameter on trees up to about 14 inches in diameter.
Pruning in plantation pines, for example, creates a thinner forest canopy and encourages faster tree growth. In addition, trees yield more valuable grade lumber because knots are further recessed in the log.
The Marden tree pruner weighs 3,200 pounds. It features a self-contained hydraulic control system that provides adjustable, constant pressure on the delimbing knives. It requires hydraulics with a capacity of 35 gpm and a dedicated circuit; it is recommended for excavators with 140 hp.
Marden Industries, headquartered in Mulberry, Fla., was founded in 1933 by Marion Denton, who first marketed a tapered drum chopper to control weeds and brush in citrus groves.
Today, Marden Industries offers a number of different types of equipment for preparing sites for reforestation, including bedding plows, subsoil plows, drum choppers, V-shears, V-blades, and fire plows.

Morbark Awards Nortrax Dealership for Three States
Morbark has awarded Nortrax an exclusive dealership to serve the forest products industry in Minnesota, Wisconsin and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Nortrax will carry Mobark’s complete industrial product line, including recycling, forestry and whole tree chipping.
Nortrax has eight locations in the region and also represents John Deere and Hitachi equipment lines.
Nortrax will handle sales, service and parts for Morbark at its location in Bemidji, Grand Rapids and Duluth, Minnesota, Eau Claire, Ashland, Monico and Wausau, Wisconsin, and Escanaba, Michigan.

Cleereman, McDonough Form Strategic Alliance
Cleereman Industries has acquired Precision Fabricating, a material handling company. McDonough Manufacturing was a shareholder of Precision Fabricating and now will be a minority shareholder of Cleereman.
Cleereman and McDonough will work closely together under a new strategic alliance to better serve the sawmill industry.
Fran Cleereman, who continues as president of Cleereman Industries, and Matt Tietz, owner of McDonough, issued a joint statement. “Our new partnership has been formed with one overriding priority – how to better meet our customers’ needs in a fast changing world,” they said. “By working together we have expanded our resources, both in regard to our people and product line. We can now build upon the exceptional customer service we have respectively provided by offering broader solutions in a more seamless fashion.”
The new alliance will enable Cleereman to provide a ‘turn key’ mill for customers. It can provide design and layout services as well as manufacture carriages, band mills, resaws, material handling equipment, optimized edgers, thin-kerf gangs, automated grading stations, drop saw trimmers, trim lines, and other mill components and systems.
Rod Chitko, formerly with Precision, has been named vice president of the material handling division. Jeff Krueger, a member of the Cleereman team for over 15 years, was promoted to vice president for the carriage division. Matt will serve as an active advisor.
